Once we thought we had seen everything in the Caucasus. And then we found ourselves in Digoria!
It is one of the most remote gorges in North Ossetia, which is unlike any other. It has one of the largest glaciers in the Caucasus, ancient ancestral towers, and forests with a huge number of berries and mushrooms. And also, the waterfalls, which are almost 300 meters high, are of extraordinary beauty
.But most importantly, there are absolutely no tourist crowds here. Yes, even at the height of the season, you can come to a beautiful mountain meadow, pour tea from a thermos bottle and admire the
huge glacier in the distance. And also:
At 11:00 we meet at the Vladikavkaz railway station and go to the Digorsky Gorge by minibus. On the way, we'll stop at the airport to pick up those who have just landed in North Ossetia. The first stop is lunch at a cafe with national cuisine. We eat Ossetian pies in their historical homeland:) Next is the village of Zadalesk with stunning views of the Digora Gorge and the unique museum of Nana Zadaleski's mother. In the late afternoon, we check into a hotel in the middle of the mountains, where we will spend the next 4 days. Dinner at a restaurant, meeting and relaxing
.The active part of the route begins: after breakfast, we go trekking along the Harecidon Valley. We will see the Goldoridon and Devil's Mill waterfalls, admire the wooded hills and blooming meadows.
In the afternoon, we'll head back to the hotel to play board games, have dinner and relax before tomorrow.
Today will be a very picturesque day: we will see the Taimazin waterfalls, three snow-white streams falling off steep cliffs. Then we will walk through a coniferous deciduous forest and go to a picturesque clearing overlooking the Tana Glacier. We'll have a snack and lunch here. Then we will go to the observation deck to the mighty Tana Glacier. We will return to the camp site the same way. Dinner, sauna, rest.
Breakfast at 7:00 a.m., check out at 8:00 a.m. Today is the busiest day ever! By car, we get to the village of Dzinaga, where we get passes to the border zone. Then a walking route begins to one of the largest glaciers in the Caucasus, Karagom. The trail will run along the river of the same name, mainly through the forest, with a smooth climb. If our pace is fast and confident, in the afternoon we will reach the observation deck with stunning views of the glacier from above. If you drive more slowly, you will have a great view of the glacier from a different, but no less impressive, angle. Return to the camp site late in the evening, dinner
.The trekking part of the route is over! We change to cars and set off on an exciting journey through 2 passes and 4 gorges in North Ossetia. Today's program includes: the Happiness shop is just around the corner, the ancient Dargavs necropolis and plenty of stunning views of snowy mountain peaks and glaciers.
It's important! In case of unfavorable weather conditions, crossing the Archon Pass (Happy Shop) will be replaced by a visit to the Biragzang
hot springs. In the evening, arrival in Vladikavkaz and check into the hotel.
Walking around Vladikavkaz and flying home.
We wake up, have a slow breakfast and go for a walk in Vladikavkaz. This is a cozy town with lots of coffee shops, historic buildings and a tram line along the main pedestrian street. A distinctive feature of the city: in sunny weather, it offers stunning mountain views. The ones we were just yesterday:)
Our journey has come to an end. You can get return tickets at any time, after 12:00.
Important for hiking and trekking! Every item on the list of things matters a lot. If your equipment does not meet this list, the instructor may remove you from the route or part of it to maintain your safety
