From Marrakech, you can start an amazing three-day trip to Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. Morocco's dramatic landscapes, ancient kasbahs, and real Berber culture come together in this trip to make an unforgettable experience. Take the Tizi n'Tichka Pass to cross the beautiful High Atlas Mountains. Then, visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Ben Haddou and hike through the beautiful Dades Valley and Todra Gorges. Finally, ride a camel across the golden fields of Erg Chebbi. In a traditional camp in the desert, you can spend the night under the stars and listen to local music around the fire. This is an experience you will never forget.

  • Camel trek at sunset & sunrise in the Sahara
  • Night under the stars in a desert camp with Berber musicVisit the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou kasbahExplore Todra Gorge & Dades Valley landscapes

Your trip starts with a beautiful drive through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, which takes you across the High Atlas Mountains. The winding roads offer stunning views of valleys and Berber towns. You'll stop at Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortress that has been used as a caravan crossing for hundreds of years. Then you'll keep going through the oasis of Skoura and the rose fields of Kalaat M'gouna to get to the beautiful Dades Valley, where you'll spend the night.

On the second day, the scenery changes a lot as you head to the Todra Gorge, a canyon with steep red rocks and a clear river that flows through it. Right after a short walk through this natural wonder, you'll keep going through desert towns like Rissani and Erfoud, which are known for their busy markets and fossil workshops. You'll get to Merzouga, which is on the edge of the Sahara Desert, in the late afternoon. As the sun goes down, camels are ready to take you across the Erg Chebbi dunes. The sand will be colored gold and orange. There will be a traditional dinner, Berber music by the fire, and a night to remember under the stars at the camp.

The third day starts early, and you ride camels back across the dunes just in time for sunrise. The desert wakes up to a quiet, bright world. The trip back to Marrakech will go through the Anti-Atlas Mountains and Ouarzazate again. The trip will start after breakfast when you meet your guide. The tour ends in the evening in Marrakech, and you'll always remember the beautiful scenery and rich culture of Morocco.

Program

Day 1. Marrakech - ait ben haddou village - Tinghir

Your journey begins early in the morning as you depart from Marrakech and head into the stunning High Atlas Mountains. The scenic drive along the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, terraced valleys, and small Berber villages clinging to the hillsides. Along the way, you’ll stop to visit Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Morocco’s most famous kasbah. With its impressive clay architecture and maze of alleyways, this fortified village has served as a backdrop for many films and continues to be a living piece of Moroccan history. After exploring the kasbah with a local guide, continue through the dramatic landscapes of Ouarzazate and the lush palm groves of Skoura before arriving in Tinghir, a charming oasis town at the gateway of the Todra Gorge. Dinner and overnight stay will be in Tinghir.

Day 2. Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, go see the Todra Gorge, which is one of the most beautiful natural sights in Morocco. On both sides of the gorge, high limestone cliffs rise sharply to heights of up to 300 meters. Below, the river makes a cool ribbon of greenery. To enjoy the beauty of the canyon, take a short walk. Then, keep going on your trip across the dry plateaus and desert towns. Before you get to Merzouga, the start of the Sahara Desert, you'll go through Erfoud, which is famous for its fossils and busy markets. Right now, your camel party is ready to take you across the Erg Chebbi dunes, just in time for a beautiful sunset. When you get to your desert camp, traditional dinner, mint tea, and Berber music around the campfire will greet you. We'll spend the night in a cozy tent in the desert, looking up at the stars. The tour ends in the evening in Marrakech, and you'll always remember the beautiful scenery and rich culture of Morocco.

Day 3. Merzouga Desert – Marrakech

You should get up early to see the sunrise over the Sahara. It's a magical time when the dunes glow with soft golden light. You can either ride your camel or take a 4x4 back to Merzouga village after breakfast to meet your driver. Set out on the long but beautiful trip back to Marrakech, taking in the Anti-Atlas Mountains, Ouarzazate, and the High Atlas scenery. Stop along the way to rest, take pictures, and eat lunch. In the evening, you'll arrive in Marrakech, where your tour ends with memories of the deserts, hills, and kasbahs of Morocco that you will never forget.

This tour was a truly memorable experience from start to finish. I had a great time with the amazing people I shared this journey with and it made everything even more special. Our driver, Salah, was professional, kind and always helped us feel safe and comfortable on the road. Our guide was experienced and enthusiastic, and Mariam was always patient in answering all our questions and making sure everything went smoothly.
During this tour, we discovered authentic Moroccan traditions, rich culture, and deep history. Every place we visited had a story to tell, and every stop seemed to matter. The rooms were very nice, clean and welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and carefully prepared.
The night in Merzouga was simply magical. The desert tents were phenomenal and exceeded all expectations. Camel riding at sunset seemed like a dream come true, sandboarding was exciting and met all expectations, and the desert music around the campfire really touched our souls. It was a moment of true togetherness, joy and peace.
First of all, hospitality stood out: people's warmth, generosity and sincere smiles made us feel at home wherever we went. Everything was really great, beautifully organized and filled with great moments. This wasn't just a tour; it was a life experience that I will always treasure
We had beautiful tiles during this memorable tour. Our driver, Salah, made the journey perfect thanks to his skills, and our guide was absolutely brilliant: he spoke in detail about the places and culture of this fantastic country, answered all our questions and easily answered our questions. The tour we set off from Marrakech, we were pleasantly surprised at how cool, modern van that has everything we need and want. We were a band, we got along and enjoyed the music we played while we were traveling. We loved all scheduled stops as they introduced us to local culture. We got to know local life in a way that words can't describe. Communication with the agency was flawless, our questions were answered faster and we had a great time. Merzouga's experience was one of a kind! We went camel riding and sandboarding, and after a delicious dinner and partying, we were taken to the tents. All in all, this is a trip that I highly recommend. Morocco's global adventures make dreams come true
