About the tour:
About the tour: Altai the Great invited us to celebrate the end of another difficult year full of various challenges. As if in a computer game, they were wandering around, getting the treasured keys and all sorts of goodies, and the result was that 18 people out of millions got a trip to Beauty!
Due to quite serious health problems (group 2 disability), there was a fear that the trip would not work out, but all fears were in vain! No one even guessed anything! So, if you doubt your abilities, don't doubt it! Be sure to visit Beautiful!
Our guide to this Beautiful was a very interesting person, Oleg. He did his best and tried to tell us who came to visit us how beautiful and rich Altai is. Diamond snow, amazing lakes and mighty rivers. The sun accompanied us the whole trip! The neat animal tracks seemed to remind us that they were wolves, hares, foxes nearby! Oleg knows the history, myths and legends of Altai very well; he is an excellent storyteller and an open person to communication. You can rely on him; there was not a single conflict with anyone during the entire tour! An easy person with a great sense of humor!
The most skillful driver of a beautiful dark blue horse, Alexey, did not even allow sudden braking for almost 3,000 kilometers along the serpentines and narrow paths; he carried everyone and a bag (trailer!) very carefully!
We did it everywhere, we saw everything! I think all participants had a good aftertaste
Amazing Altai has tried to reveal the beauty of nature and its people. Amazing Altai has tried to reveal the beauty of nature and its people, and wait for us to visit us for a slow and detailed taste!

About the tour: ALTAI-MONGOLIA TOUR
DATES: JUNE 18, 2024 — JUNE 27, 2024

I suggest considering this tour as an organization of a transfer to remote places in Mongolia via Altai. Choose this tour if you are ready for long journeys and the hardships of hiking life

Pros:
- incredible views, landscapes, stars
- a great group of travelers
- attentive, helpful guide to Roma in Mongolia
- off-road loaf experience
- delicious shurpa, fresh lamb kebab
- a pleasant sauna in the “Nomad” with the opportunity to swim in a hot tub with mountain water
- time and opportunity for additional leisure activities in the form of fishing in Mongolia, horse riding, quads, rafting in Altai
- visiting interesting places in Altai along the tour
- an opportunity to take a break from the Internet and civilization

Cons:
- long journeys (very long journeys) For example, on the first day we drove for almost 12 hours, then less, but in general it seemed that we spend most of our time on the road
- low information on the part of the organizers to the group - questions about the trip and plans for the day were answered evasively, trying to joke it off, we had to ask them again many times due to lack of answers. It seemed that many issues were resolved by the organizers here and now, on the go, which made it seem like we were just going nowhere
Suggestion: set a time when the whole group will get together for 5 minutes, where they will talk about what awaits them tomorrow, what to prepare for, what to dress, duplicate the information in the chat (in fairness, I would like to note that by the end of the trip this moment had improved, chat information was sent in a timely manner), answer the questions seriously If you don't have an answer to the question right now, say it directly and when you can give an answer
- the program is mostly not respected. At the end, we were completely confused about what we were supposed to see, we just drove wherever we were taking us, we didn't ask any questions, because we gave up hope of getting answers
- paid shower at the first accommodation facility in Altai, “Nomad” - after a long journey on the first day, the group was told that the shower at the camp site was paid (200 rubles) It was strange))) I can't imagine how you can lead the group all day long in the heat and then collect money from everyone for a shower. I assume that this should already be included in the tour price or specified in the program Guys, in Altai, camp site amenities are almost always within the complex, not in your house
- breakfasts were not always included and we had to come up with something on our own (either the cook quit, or we couldn't make it on time due to an early check-out). However, I accidentally caught the guide talking to the administrators at one of the accommodation facilities, where he reduced the room rate, because we were unable to catch breakfast due to early check-out. The group was told later that we should organize breakfast ourselves:)
Upon arrival at a lake in Mongolia, after gathering the tents, the organizers asked us which of us would cook dinner. It was too much: based on the program and the cost of the tour, meals in the mountains of Mongolia are included. At the time of this question, we were very tired and this is not what we would like to hear
- the lack of security in Mongolia because the main guide does not speak the local language, when the Mongolian guide Roma was forced to go to the border guards with our documents

When you go on a tour, you want to feel like you're on vacation and have someone take care of organizational issues. Because this is not a trip with friends, where sometimes you decide on the spot what to do. Being in the dark is not what you expect an organized tour

Travel expert's answer: Alina, thank you for such a thorough review that will help us become better. We will take into account all your wishes and will try to fix some of the shortcomings that you think were during the tour However, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the review must be honest not only to the tour operator, but also to the traveler 1 You came to the group meeting 1 day before the start of the tour, which you admitted on the first day, saying that you mixed up the dates. Hence, we conclude that you did not read the tour program itself carefully, without even remembering the start dates of the tour 2 The tour program in the section “What is not included in the tour price” states that the price does not include a shower at the Nomad camp site - 200 rubles The reason why you didn't see this is read in paragraph 1 - you did not read the tour program carefully 3 Long trips Yes, from Novosibirsk to the first place to stay 785 km You could fly not to Novosibirsk, but to Gorno-Altaysk, thus reducing the journey by half - by 440 km But you chose Novosibirsk Airport for arrival and departure, as tickets to Novosibirsk are cheaper than to Gorno-Altaysk In addition, the tour program includes ALL PLANTS for each day of the tour Again, ignoring regarding the tour program and the information it contains, you consider this to be one of the organizer's shortcomings, which is absolutely not correct Gorny Altai is equal in territory to Switzerland, which is a long distance to get to the border with Mongolia. But it is in the border area with Mongolia that the most famous and beautiful locations of Altai are located - Geyser Lake, Altai Mars, the Severo-Chuysky Range, etc. We cannot shorten the length of the Chuy Highway, and the choice of the city of arrival and departure is due to the tourist's financial condition You do not want to pay more for flights and for reducing bus trips, but consider this to be one of the disadvantages of organizing a tour, which is also unrelated to reality 4 “Low information on the part of the organizers” Since you and your companion were the last to arrive at the start of the tours, often woke up openly at the group's scheduled meeting time, constantly stayed at souvenir markets, cafes, shops, etc., it's not surprising that you didn't hear the information that was shared with other tourists before. This is a group tour, not an individual tour, so please respect the rest of the tour participants who had to constantly have to do with you wait 5 “Breakfasts weren't always included and we had to come up with something on our own” Indeed, one of the camp sites fired a cook 2 days before we arrived, so once I suggested that the group buy a morning snack of their choice This happens, we apologize for the inconvenience 6 “Upon arrival at a lake in Mongolia, after gathering tents, the organizers asked us which of us would cook dinner” Alina, that we, as organizers, are always upset. This is an outright lie that some travelers write to vent their grievances over the discrepancy between the reality of holidays in Russia, especially Mongolia, and their ideas brought, as you said from Thailand, Bali, etc. You know very well what exactly I was cooking for the whole group during my entire stay in the mountains of Mongolia. Here is the menu: 1 evening - buckwheat porridge with stew, sandwiches, tea, sweets Day 2 Breakfast - freshly caught roasted grayling, lamb liver roasted on a fire, sandwiches, tea, coffee, sweets Lunch - fresh lamb shurpa Dinner - freshly made grayling on the fire, fresh lamb kebab, tea, coffee, etc. Day 3 Early breakfast - sandwiches, tea, coffee, sweets Dinner - at the most expensive restaurant in Ulgia 6 “The lack of security in Mongolia because the main guide does not speak the local language” Alina, firstly, you were in a group, moreover, with a satellite Secondly, there is no one in the mountains of Mongolia to threaten your safety - this is a natural national park. Moreover, there is an outpost of Mongolian border guards who are armed The only thing that peacefully grazing yaks, camels, lambs and horses could encroach on your safety, to whom you fearlessly came to pet them)) Thirdly, the main guide, that is, I, does not have to know Altai, Mongolian and Kazakh languages - this is how many peoples live in the places of Mongolia where we were on tour. There is a local guide who knows the customs, traditions and local languages very well. If you didn't feel safe in the mountains of Mongolia, maybe you should have chosen the countries you have been to and that are more familiar to you - Greece, Finland, Thailand, Bali, Cyprus, Italy - and with which you mistakenly compare Mongolia? 7 “When you go on a tour, you want to feel like you're on vacation, have someone take care of organizational issues” Alina, active tours, especially mountain tours, are not the beach vacation you are used to and compare Mongolia There are no waiters, maids, receptionists, sommeliers, police officers, etc. And you have to wash your own dishes Please adequately assess the location you are going to visit We are very pleased that in addition to these “disadvantages”, you have noticed the “advantages” that you also wrote about Thank you again for the company and for your feedback)) Read more
About the tour: So, hot on the trail, I would like to talk about my journey. Initially, I booked the Altai Golden Ring tour. 4 days before departure, Oleg informed me that the band was not full and offered to join the Altai - Mongolia group, and I agreed.
Advantages:
- the opportunity to join a group of like-minded people if there are no people willing to travel together in your company;
- visit protected beauties, relax in nature, reboot, stay away from “civilization” and gadgets, the big “geography” of this tour
- acquaintance with color and cuisine (food, tasty, varied, inexpensive)
- a wonderful sauna on the territory of the “Nomad”, the experience of living in a yurt
Disadvantages:
I'll make a reservation that I'm a “kettle”; it was my first vacation of this kind, and even more so I've never been to the mountains with tents.
- long distances between locations, a lot of 2-3 hour trips at best (for those who are sick, you need to take Dramina), I was tired of it, I just wanted to stay in the “moment” longer, it got in the way
- Not exactly the right list of things. Our tour started on June 18, 2024, and since I had never been to Altai or Mongolia before, I did not know the peculiarities of the climate. The range of day/night temperatures can be enormous (evenings and nights can be very cold, although up to +25-30 during the day). When packing, I would strongly recommend taking thermal underwear, membrane clothing or Softshell (especially for frosts like me), and not just a lightweight windbreaker, fleece jacket (I took thermal underwear, a thin sweater, an anorak and I was cold), you can rent a sleeping bag, but their number is limited, IT must have a certain temperature range of 5 +10, this is also not on the list, this was not the case during the oral preliminary conversation the accent, how I froze, is beyond words, with my +13-20 in the tent, wearing everything that was in the bag
- about accommodation: it's quite simple (remember Soviet summer camps with a toilet and shower in a separate room), but after the tent, any bed with a blanket seemed “chic”. Personally, I didn't like it, the bed linen in Nomad was “worn out”, everything in the rest of the hotels was acceptable (but I'm very picky about these things)
- there is little information about the locations you are in, life, culture, which makes the immersion seem incomplete

Travel expert's answer: Tatyana, thank you for your review)) We welcome different opinions from tourists about our tours - this allows us to grow, fix shortcomings and improve our service. However, please write the truth in the reviews, including about yourself, as we are for honesty What you consider to be “disadvantages” is not entirely correct, as you write in this review yourself: “I'm terribly picky” Due to bad weather and rain in Altai, indeed, many participants postponed their trip to July or August, someone canceled the tour and we refunded them in full. You were also offered a refund money or go on a more intense, more interesting and more expensive tour at no extra charge, as you agreed. On the Altai-Mongolia tour, we live in tents in the mountains, on the shores of a pristine lake, for 2 nights, because this is a national wildlife park and prohibits the construction of any facilities - hotels, tourist centers, guest houses, etc. 1 Regarding the cool temperature at night in the mountains of Mongolia and the lack of warm clothes, please read carefully the list of things you need to bring with you - this list is on the tour page, at the end of the program. An additional list of things mentioning that you must have thermal underwear, fleece clothes, a sweatshirt, warm socks, a hat in case of bad weather and a -5 Comfort sleeping bag for spending the night in the mountains was listed in the group's general chat for 5 days before the tour starts 3 days before the tour started, you told me you didn't have a sleeping bag and I promised you give your sleeping bag that meets all requirements However, you came with your own sleeping bag, designed for a temperature of +5, not -5, without consulting the tour organizer. This is probably why you were cool, although Kirill and Dasha, members of the same group, had sleeping bags like yours with a temperature of +5, and they even felt hot in the tent If you DO NOT READ the tour conditions, DO NOT ASK ANY QUESTIONS to the organizer before the start of the tour and throughout the tour, then your discomfort can hardly be attributed to our shortcomings 2 The guide cannot a priori know who is sick and who is not. To do this, the list of things to take with you includes medicines and medicines that you consider necessary. The guide is not a doctor, and according to Russian legislation, he does not have the right to prescribe medications, for example, Dromina. But this is the drug I talked about on the very first day of the tour to all tourists who feel uncomfortable when moving. You could easily buy it at any pharmacy Altai 3 Now, about the lack of information about sights. Since I was the guide on this tour, I talked in great detail not only about the sights, but also about the culture of the Altaians, Mongols and Kazakhs, the life, traditions and customs of these peoples, the history of the Chuy Highway, tribal relations between the Turkic peoples, Pazyryk and Scythian culture, and attempts to conquer Altai by China and Genghis About the religion of the Altaians - shamanism and Burkhanism, about every attraction we visited - their Turkic names and Russian meanings and lengths and the depths of many rivers, lakes, the heights of mountains and mountain ranges, the area and depth of glaciers, their peculiarities, about flora and fauna, about climatic zones, etc. But you either slept on the bus or listened to music with headphones, or “sat” on the phone or talked And my regular phrase “Do you have any questions?” , you also regularly ignored throughout the trip and didn't ask a SINGLE QUESTION to the guide You're the only one who didn't say hello to the rest of the tour participants, the guide, or the drivers in the morning during all 9 days of the trip, which is very strange, to put it mildly 4 In your review, you write: “long distances between locations, a lot of trips of 2-3 hours at best” You could fly, for example, to Gorno-Altaysk, but in order to save your money, you chose a different city of arrival and departure from Novosibirsk Indeed, Gorny Altai is quite a large region (2 Switzerland), and we cannot reduce the distance between the Altai Republic and the length of the Chuysky Highway by 953 km. I remind you that the tour program details timing, ALL DISTANCES AND TRAVEL TIMES for each day. Bus travel took more than three hours, but even a 73-year-old woman who went through the entire tour with us carried these distances without any problems 5 For some reason, you don't mention that since it was your birthday after the tour and you asked you to leave the day before the tour ended, I sent you by taxi to the airport at my own expense, which is 850 km and considerable expenses, don't write about the fact that fresh sheep was ordered for the group, and they cooked shurpa, barbecue at the stake, caught and fried for you the most grayling and ottoman in Mongolia, although hiking usually comes with a standard set - stew, rice, buckwheat, canned food, tea As one of the participants in this journey wrote to you in the group's general chat after your departure, “your negative outlook on life is missing.” Unfortunately, you paid little attention to the beauty and diversity of Altai, one of the most beautiful parts of our homeland, the uniqueness of Mongolia's wildlife, and information about the sights we visited Since you prefer a relaxing beach vacation and write “I'm terribly picky” in your review, you are probably more suitable for all inclusive in Turkey, Thailand, Greece, the UAE or Bali. But due to the inability to fly there, you chose a tour to Altai This is a different type of vacation - active People come to such tours consciously for the beauty of wild nature, for vivid impressions, for a break from civilization and everyday hustle and bustle for privacy For active tours, “creepy picky people” are not the right audience at all Please evaluate your preferences, financial and other options before buying a tour, do not be under illusions about complete comfort at such a modest cost. And if you are going on a group tour, please respect the rest of the group, including guides and drivers Read more
