Mexico: Food & Flavors of Puebla Tour

About the tour: My daughter and I took this trip as her quinceanera present. Our guide was Carlos. This tour was absolutely amazing. We got our itinerary one week before we left. The itinerary included links to all of our hotels and all the information we needed for the trip. The night before Carlos contacted us as well as on the day we were traveling. I can’t say enough about Carlos who was an amazing guide. He is extremely passionate about the history of Mexico and is always learning new things. He definitely made our trip one of the best ever. We started off in Mexico City and then traveled to Huatulco through the mountains. My daughter chose foodies tour because she wanted to learn more about the food and enjoy the tastes of Mexico. This tour included to cooking classes. The cooking classes were very informative and fun to be a part of. Tasting what we made was even better. We also went to many local restaurants to taste different types of foods from the different types of areas. We decided to be daring and tried some of the specialties that are only offered in these parts of Mexico. Carlos was a fantastic driver and he was very helpful when we found out at last minute that we needed to have a Covid test before we boarded our flight back to the United States. Carlos was also very patient with us and always saw things in a positive light. Because of Covid, if something wasn’t available he had an alternative option. However most things were open by this time. The only part that I wished I had known was to have of cash in pesos to pay for things like bathrooms and tips. Because our experience was very authentic, it is important to have pesos and not American dollars for most of the places. Luckily there are banks and ATMs in the bigger cities and you were able to get pesos from those locations. My daughter and I had the best trip ever and it was the best present we could give her to learn about some of her heritage. I would definitely choose Alex's tours again and I would ask for Carlos if he is available. Thank you for a wonderful and authentic experience. Read more
Mexico: Towards the Gulf Tour

About the tour: I booked the tour “Mexico: Towards the Gulf” in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. To be honest, I was at first not sure how this travel would go during these challenging times. However, the company adapted extremely well and showed a high flexibility. On arrival, I was provided with face masks that are usually used by medical professionals and got instructed of their correct use.

I booked this tour, because I wanted to make special experiences with locals, while getting assistance for housing, transport, guided tours and security. Alex and his colleagues provided these services in a very professional way. A week before arrival, I was sent well-structured trip notes, that collected into one single document literally all information I needed to know: information and Google Maps links to my hotels and bus stations, meeting hours with guides, contact details of other people I could meet… Everything was planned throughout and I just had to stick to the notes in order to have an organized and easy travel experience. Furthermore, there were plenty of additional ideas of activities, food/drinks tastings and some other usefull information on security and local customs.

The variety of this tour was amazing. It was a nice combination of lovely cities, beautiful nature and interesting culture.

If a problem came up, I could call Alex at all times. Because I was travelling for the first time in Mexico (and even in Latin America), this turned out to be a very reassuring factor. He was very responsive and always found a solution to the problem at hand.

The quality of the hotels, transportation and accommodation was good in proportion to the price of the tour. Altogether, I can highly recommend this tour and the professionalism of the team. Read more

About the tour: Our guide for the trip, Ellis, took wonderful care of us (it turned out that we were the only ones on this particular tour) . The itinerary was a good mix of nature, history, culture and sight seeing. Ellis was a treasure. He was extremely well informed about the things we were seeing, and managed to keep up with our endless questions. His pride in his culture and his country was evident. Read more
Mexico: Waterfalls, Mountains & Sea Tour

About the tour: Although I was the only person to sign up for the Waterfalls, Mountains and Sea group tour, it still went ahead, so it was like my own private tour, but really it was like traveling with my friends Alex (tour leader) and Rodrigo (driver). We spent each day of the two weeks together from breakfast to bed time, and they were always kind and courteous, whether opening the car door for me, carrying my bag when it was too difficult for me, lending a helping hand while we climbed up and down mountains and waterfalls, being patient while explaining food options, and countless other times. Since I was the only person on the tour, Alex was open to my suggestions of new places to see and things to do. I highly recommend Alex's tours, and look forward to seeing my new friends in the future! Read more
