In more than 30 years of contact with Altai, I have developed my own itineraries. They may also include encounters with special people who are just as striking and powerful an attraction as some waterfall or lake.
My itineraries involve a different type of transportation, but it's always a combination of car travel, walking with the possibility of using horses, or a boat, crossing the Teletskoe Lake from south to north and back. There are 2 basic directions - the Chuysky route to its end near the Mongolian border and a trip to Akkemskoye lake to the foot of Belukha (4500 m above sea level).
